Well, the first lambs on my Pukekawa house sit arrived over the last few days. Three lambs in total so far. The salt-and-pepper lamb was a breech (i.e. coming backwards) so I had to give its mother a helping hand – in the pouring rain just after 5am, as you do. It was quite a big lamb, too. Thankfully, the ewe (Iris) is a pet and so she stayed put while I eased the lamb out and got it breathing. So it all worked out well. The twin lambs belong to Primrose.

December 4 2024 at 9:30 PMI’ve had a similar experience while house sitting! It’s always so rewarding to see the lambs thrive after a tough start. Well done for stepping up when Iris needed help. The lambs in the clips are so adorable. I could watch them skip and play all day.

November 7 2024 at 2:57 PMA house sitter who’s confident enough to handle things like lambing emergencies is priceless. I’ve emailed you with some photos of our place in Waihi, because I’d love for you to come and look after our small block next year where we have a few sheep and beefies, along with three cats and some chooks. You sound like just the person we need.
